I've been paying particular attention to how my resveratrol intake has affected my appetite. Now it is said that resveratrol has the ability to mimic the results of calorie restriction, a dietary technique used in relation to longevity. Personally I have noticed a few things in regards to my appetite:
First, on my workout days I find my appetite has continued to increase over the past two months. Now for those who don't know my history I had a BMR of 1100 two months ago. This basically meant that my body at rest needed 1100 calories of intake to maintian my current physiology. This test was done prior to my new workout regimen and prior to any consumption of trans-resveratrol. I've lost approximately 6 pounds since beginning my new training routine and on days I workout I have found myself increasingly hungry. Even with the increase I can only imagine how much greater it would be had I not been taking resveratrol. Certainly there is also the possibility of a placebo effect as well.
Second, on my off days (non-workout days) I find myself with very little desire to eat large quantities of food. Almost as if my body just doesn't feel the need for it and it's difficult to eat very much when this occurs. From a dietary stand point this may not be great but as I adjust my diet I am hoping to benefit from this lack of a desire to eat more. I personally believe I just need to find the correct supplements to make sure my body gets what it needs to recover and develop properly on these "off" days.
Lastly, my desire to eat overly fatty foods and those with high sugar content has greatly been reduced. It's been primarily complex carbohydrates, fruits, proteins such as chicken, and rice. I am in the process of trying other foods to see if I have a desire for anything else.
For the previous 10-12 years I was a cheesteak, cheeseburger, and french fry guy. I could eat them 5 days a week and at times did just that. Not only do I not miss those foods now I have very few cravings for them. The benefit to that is when I occasionally do get those cravings I eat what I want, just in smaller portions to satisfy myself. It's not about being unrealistic from a dietary stand point for me. I need to eat certain foods whether healthy or not when I have those cravings and that is just what I do. It's what makes me happy!
So be realistic and don't set yourself up for failure. An unrealistic diet won't work, especially in the beginning. No need to stop cold turkey just think before you eat and choose smaller portions less often then every day. With self discipline and resveratrol consumption I believe we obtain an edge in this area.

Markus,
Thank you for your research and sharing results of your personal journey. Will you please share what brand of reveratrol you chose and why. If it was one that is not available, can you suggest one that has the concentration and attributes that you believe superior.

Hi Elizabeth,
I appreciate the kind words. I have put together a page on this site explaining which product I use and why. It is the RevGenetics Nitro 250. Here is a link to the page and links to their site:
