As the final installment in my 3 part series on Calorie Restriction I thought it would be important to touch on whether or not it should be a practice followed along with taking resveratrol. My answer may not be what you want to hear but give me a chance to explain it.
The answer: I don't know...
I really don't know whether or not the two should be combined. I haven't been able to find any supporting information that says you should or should not do this. I also don't know enough about the medical and physiological effects the two could have on your body.
However, of course I have an opinion on the topic.
I think fully combining the two practices together is not something I would do without further supporting evidence of its benefits. I would suggest a diet where calories are tracked and consumed based on your bodies needs. Once you know the amount of cals your body needs each day try not to exceed it. If you'd like to try both practices cut back on your calories very slowly and don't cut too much. Make sure you are getting the vitamins and nutrients your body needs to stay healthy.
Prior to starting any diet or exercise program I suggest speaking with your physician to put together a plan. It is important to note if you are on any other medications your doctor should be able to tell you the effects a diet or supplement could have on them.
Now I hope you didn't find the previous two posts a waste of your time. I find calorie restriction an important topic in relation to taking resveratrol. I for one feel more educated about it and hope you feel the same way.
As always feel free to reply to this post or email me with any questions or comments. If you know of any studies using both calorie restriction and resveratrol please post links to them.
