Focus on your "Healthstyle" to add healthy years to your life!
The headlines, news clips, and talk show segments are all touting the benefits of resveratrol. You hear the catch phrases almost daily now:
"The Fountain of Youth" - "Longevity in a Bottle" - "The French Paradox"
These headlines are being thrown around like they actually mean something. So who can blame us for getting caught up in what "could be" even though we are missing the reality.
We hear the professionals telling us to add resveratrol to our diets, but what most people miss is what else these professionals are saying...
"Resveratrol should be a part of an overall healthy lifestyle."
This doesn't mean you can eat high fat foods all day, washed down with a six pack of beer. It doesn't mean you can sit on your couch and the only exercise you get is a trip to the fridge or bathroom. Just taking your "miracle" resveratrol pill won't solve the ailments created by an unhealthy lifestyle.
There have been times I've said to myself, "Oh, I can eat this Bacon Cheeseburger tonight, I took my resveratrol earlier." Well, deep down I know I shouldn't be eating the burger but I have a convenient excuse. Convenience and laziness are easy excuses but they don't help us live longer.
You need to combine resveratrol, and all supplements, with an overall healthy approach to life. Now I am a realistic person who knows that some times good food comes with a price. I am willing to pay that price occasionally because not eating certain foods just because they are bad for me isn't very realistic. So I choose my battles carefully and eat "treats" once a week.
Living longer and remaining healthy is only achieved through a well rounded healthstyle (Healthstyle = Lifestyle without the social implications of the term). Combining a routine exercise program, healthy diet, and supplement regimen is the basis for a good healthstyle.
Focus on one step at a time. Your health isn't a sprint, it's more like a marathon. Keep steady and make your healthstyle a routine!
Marcus,
The advice in this article is excellent. Although some supplements can be beneficial, there is no miracle pill that will compensate for an unhealthy life style. I have ordered some resveratrol, and am hoping for some good results, but I'm not expecting miracles.
