As far as health crazes go, Resveratrol, certainly took the top spot in many categories in 2009. What started out as a relatively unknown antioxidant with potential anti aging capabilities turned into a debauchery of deceit by on-line marketers.
Once the big names mentioned it on prime time TV it only took a few days for the marketing machine to start it's work. Unfortunately, this also spawned a numerous amount of "on the fly" resveratrol companies selling products with poor quality or very little, if any, good manufacturing practices.
It got so bad that between Acai Berry and Resveratrol the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) had to update and change laws regarding what type of promotional activities are legal and which are not. The use of celebrity endorsements without permission or undocumented product claims is no longer acceptable; this is a good thing! I commend the FTC for stepping up and protecting the consumer.
While I firmly believe that product promotion is a positive method for companies to sell products, it must be done in an ethical manner. This means bloggers, site owners, and anyone else must promote products in a way that is consistent with ethical practices.
All websites that make money from promoting products or placing ads need to have disclosures that are clear for consumers. You will notice here on My Resveratrol Experience those disclosures are posted in numerous places and on every page.
There were also numerous positive advancements in Resveratrol research. Just search Google Scholar for the term Resveratrol and you will see several research studies published on 2009. Many were very promising, but all of them required further research before determining whether or not Resveratrol truly is beneficial to humans in the long run.
Resveratrol has a promising 2010 ahead of it. Consumers are more aware of what to look for with regards to purchasing resveratrol. More and more research studies are underway and results are expected in 2010. While we might not get definitive answers, we are getting closer and closer to the answer of this question, "Does Resveratrol Work?"

My favorite Resveratrol product is by Jarrow Formulas called Resveratrol Synergy 200. I get it at www.VitaminLab.Net because they have the best prices on it. It contains 200 mg of Resveratrol and 100 mg of Vitamin C, Grape Seed Extract 50 mg (95% polyphenols), Grape Skin Extract 100 mg (30% poyphenols), Green Tea 5:1 Extract 200 mg (45% polyphenolics), and Quercetin 100 mg. Everything you need for an antioxidant!

Hi there,
I am in Oz, female aged 33yrs and currently taking myself off an antidepressant which I have been on for 4 or so years. I have read a lot of literature about this and that the best way to help my body recover is to take antioxidants and some supplements (fish oil etc....).
I would like to know if anyone else has been down this path and what their experiences are. I am about to start taking Omega 3 supplements and Resveratol to help me on my journey back to the norm.
Cheers

Hi Ren,
I have actually been there. I am 36 now, but got off of lexapro when I was 32. Here are the vitamins and supplements to take to help cope with certain issues:
Vitamin B: Some research has shown that people low in B vitamins suffer from depression and when supplemented their depression goes away. There are many types of B vitamins so take a full spectrum vitamin B supplement that includes all of them and take it daily. This has made a huge difference in my life, I can't express enough how much this has made a difference in my life. I take B-Right by Jarrow Formulas and I also take a multi B from Trader Joes.
Magnesium: Helps with anxiety and hyper tension, it will help mellow you out if you have had too much caffeine. I take Magnesium Optimizer by Jarrow Formulas throughout the day as you are supposed to spread out the intake so that your body can absorb it. If you take it all in one dose your body can only absorb so much and the rest will be wasted.
Enzymes & Probiotics: Enzymes and Probiotics are over looked by many people but they are one of the most important parts in feeling good. For an all spectrum Enzyme I take Rainbow Lights Advanced Enzyme Optima, This will help you digest your food better and will help break down the food so that your body will be able to absorb all the nutrients.
As for Probiotics, I take Jarrow Formulas Ultra Jarrow dophilus, this is a full spectrum probiotic that has 10 different strains of bacteria your body needs. This bacteria lines your upper and lower intestine and helps in the breakdown and absorption of proteins, faty acids and other nutrients. They also protect you from harmful bacteria and boost your immune system. They will also help with regulating your bowel movements and keeping your intestines healthy.
Hope this helps - And I hope it reaches you seeing that there is no way to alert you that I have replied to your message.
Cheers, and I hope you find your happiness:)
