Hi, I just found your website and I think it is a very good way of sharing and keep informed.
I am a medical student and have a great interest on biology.
I am also an occasional wine drinker and I find resveratrol to be a good pretext to enjoy a glass of red wine :o)

What I wanted to share is my current opinion on all the articles I read about resveratrol and others...like curcumin ect...
In my point of view of a healthy lifestyle and diet, I believe the large consumerism attitude is very strange and somway crazy. It just aliments the stress and vain pursuit of performance and competition. I'm not saying competition isn't good to stimulate production (intelectual or even relational like in sports) but socially it is not woth it.
The evidence prove that small quantities and chonic consumption of red wine is good for prevention on CV diseases. Why would anyone want to go on other extreme and take thousands more time of these well studied molecules...although freshly discovered?
I really much prefere not waisting my time on over thinking, overbuying and over speculating on what could take dozens of years to be scientificaly determined.

Don't you think the scientific approche (you seem to adhere) would base its conclusions on proofs and facts. FOr now the balance goes more to the healthy non stressed lifstyle than to the magic pill.

I may be wrong but I found for now the knowledge on metabolites and chemicals in blood stream very poor in face of their actions on genes and structural components of the body.
The concentrations of an hormone is almost always in the nano scale per ml or even (depending on the physiologic conditions) per litter. Similarly RESVERATROL has been proven to function as protective agent trough its multiples effectson cellular scale and thus repercuting on physiology... BUT this is proven for small concentrations.
At high concentration the effects seem to be counterproductive.
What I could understand on stem cell niche and differentiation process, is that oxydative molecules tend to determine the direction the stem cells take (to neuron or adipocytes...)
Resveratrol could in this regard support stem cell maintain. The other side may also be true and over stimulation (or interference) with the signaling mechanisms in question would turn the other way and create a state of decontextualized and maybe non functional of already differentiated cells. This would mean cells desensibilised and thus less stimulated wich could go toward pathologic features.
Then there is the responsivness of cells, their set of proteomic machinery at a precise moment wich determines with other ARN ect... the permisive, represive or potentiation of gene expression...

There is no kitchen nano great extract that would give you the great performance and instant longevity you are pursuiing. Even if common preservative mechanisms knowledge is growing and being very promising.
The answer you are looking is for now in my point of view, absolutely chimeric (not vain).

What do you think? for me something like one two or three pills a week seems enough.
It brings me to my last point. I read about your pauses and I think this could be a real good thing. Something like not keeping your body too far from the "natural" environement.

PS: Sorry if my english gives you a headache... work in progress

Hi, always looking for new developments in the health section, I stumbled upon your web site. Particularly on the "side effects" topic. Reading this page hasn't brought me any information on side effects. It seems that nowadays everybody is on the web promoting stuff or claiming interest in things and are just not giving away anything. Either because they have no clue what they are talking about or just don't want to share it. This website looked promising, but I will continue and look further.

Hi, Greetings from the Netherlands!

Before I ask my question, You have a wonderfull site.

I have been trying resveratrol now for 5 weeks and I think it is great, BUT, I also suffer, as so many, from diarrhea. I tried 2 brands, perfectcrape (they claim 99% trans res.) and bioforte, they both give me diarrhea. I tried different dosages from 100mg to 500mg, they were al answered with diarrhea. I don't want to stop using it, because I also notice de benefits. Do you knwo of a brand I could try that will give me less problems? thnx in advange!

This is for Ben from the Netherlands!! I just placed my first order for resveratrol after spending HOURS researching it. The one thing consistent in all the data I read was that the Emodin content causes diarrhea. Often the inexpensive brands don't list the quantities found but I did learn the higher end manufacturers do. I also read that the longer you take resveratrol the more likely your digestive system will adjust to it, but the consisent comments are that benefits are achieved over long term use, it's not a "quick fix". I am going to try it in dealing with menopause which is producing DHT and causing my hair to shed and break. I'm also facing menopausal weight gain which is frustrating given I spent years working out and it's harder now to maintain. I'll update my note as my use of the product is underway, look into the Emodin content, I bet reducing it also reduces your episodes? Good Luck!

Where is the information on side effects? I have been taking resveratrol for 6 wks. and the only difference i have experienced: difficult to stay asleep. The ad i read indicated resveratrol helps you sleep, improves memory, good for heart, etc.???

So far, I've been taking 250mgs of resveratrol (or so the label says) per day via a capsule for about 3 weeks. So far I don't feel any different, I have good days and bad days, same as before. Can't really tell anything.

i am 47 and it s my second day .i am taking 250gr every moning whit udo oil.I train 4 time a week.and i need a lot of energy .for now i feel grate.excus me if my writing is not good ,i am not anglish i do my best.for me it is importent to read your comment .i kno that win is good for you .and this product reveratrol comme from the rasin so what could be bad for you ,i read somme of the comment and thos that are negativ have reaction very fast so they stop.somme time thos reation is like somme one that began to exersise and they fell bad the firs time and they stop becaus they were told that it would make them feel beter.it take a litel bit of time for you body to adjaust to it s new life still. and exersising is not for evrey one.

Hello all, I've been using a 'natural' resveratrol cream and I've developed a red bumpy rash all over my cheeks. The rash feels hot and uncomfortable but not painful or itchy. The resveratrol cream is the only product I've been using that I haven't used before so I'm assuming it is a reaction to this cream. I've never had a reaction to anything before and I never get pimples so this is highly unusual. Has anyone heard of this reaction to resveratrol before?

I HAVE A QUESTION. DOES RESVERATROL PLUS SERVE AS A BLOOD THINNER? I HAVE BEEN ON THIS CAPSULE FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS. I SNEEZED AND A BEAUTIFUL BLACK EYE BELOW MY LEFT EYE DEVELOPED. THE NEXT MORNING THE BLACKNESS WAS ABOUT HALF THE DARKNESS. I KNOW OF NOTHING EXCEPT OCCASIONAL .81 ASPIRIN. OTHER PRESCRIPTION ARE OF LONG DURATION AND NO SUCH EXPERIENCE. PLEASE REPLY. UNTIL I HEAR FROM YOU, I WONT TAKE ANY RESVERATROL . THANKS.

This is the suppliment that I took, http://www.schiffvitamins.com/product_detail.asp?id=199 I've been on it for 4 days and it is the only medication change I've made recently, from a regular D3 5,000 to this.

My vision has become very blurry. I am on a high dosage of Alpha Lipoic Acid (600mg TID) from my Neurologist for Dysautonomia and I've had difficulty with how it mangifies the effects of other anti-oxidents like vit E. I discontinued it today and will watch to see how the blurriness resolves.
